In memory of Megan Baab…

The Frisco Cycling Club donated a significant amount of its funds to the Candle in the Wind Megan Baab Scholarship Fund in December 2011.

Megan Baab raced with many members of the Frisco Cycling Club at the Frisco Superdrome.  Megan Baab was a national class bike racer and a great person.

On December 15th, 2011 Megan Baab, 19, was traveling north finishing a training ride, a direction taking her back toward the Appalachian State University (ASU) Campus where she was a Freshman, when a southbound truck crossed the centerline and hit her.  She was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center in Tennessee, but was pronounced dead on arrival.  The driver of the truck was also a Freshman at ASU, who was headed home after taking final exams.  There was no indication of alcohol or excessive speed involved, the driver of the truck was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.

This is a great loss to her family, her friends, and the sport of cycling.  Megan was liked by all and will be missed by all.
